Testimony #10: 'Desperate' for God |
|
November 04, 2008 |
|
My best friend's mom passed away when I was 14 years old, and from that day forward I started questioning what the meaning of life was and what my purpose was. I
went to many different types of churches, but was never able to find
anything to change me from the inside out. I gained knowledge, but no
conviction. I always walked away feeling lost and insecure.
I still
lived the typical, drama-filled life of a teenager.
After graduating from high school, I started trying to make something
of my life. I began teaching preschool and I was named Miss Temecula in
a pageant.
During the day, I was the sweet and innocent schoolteacher, who would
go represent the city of Temecula with purity and spirituality.
However, behind closed doors my heart was screaming for love and
attention, desperate to find something that would make me feel
complete.

Testimony #9: Where are you, God? |
|
September 20, 2008 |
I grew up going to Catholic and Protestant churches and observed a lot
of hypocrisy among people of faith - including my own family. I got
into a lot of trouble as a teenager. I rebelled and wanted everyone to
know that I used drugs and alcohol. I loved all the attention I got
from my peers.
However, I always knew I wanted more out of life. I became pregnant at
age 17 and this rocked my world. In a way, it saved me, because I wanted to be a "good person" for my
child. I started to achieve, becoming president of my school's student
body, being nominated for prom queen and graduating with highest
honors. I also received scholarships and many colleges wanted me to go
their school.
I felt good about all the accomplishments, but I still longed for truth and for God.
